Digital Sales Pressure Is Rewriting Spirits Distribution

Southern Glazer's planned workforce reduction highlights a broader middle-tier shift toward hybrid selling, digital tools, and more focused resource allocation.
What Is GNS?
Grain Neutral Spirit (GNS) is a highly purified alcohol distilled from grain—typically corn, wheat, or rye—to 190 proof or higher. It serves as the foundation for vodka, gin, liqueurs, and many RTD products.
Not all GNS is created equal. Distillation methods, filtration processes, and source grain all impact the final character of the spirit built upon it.
Quality Considerations
Distillation passes: More passes generally mean higher purity
Carbon filtration: Removes remaining congeners and impurities
Source grain: Corn GNS tends toward sweetness, wheat toward smoothness
Water quality: Affects final dilution and mouthfeel
ETHRA Ingredients offers both unfiltered and carbon-filtered corn GNS, giving producers options based on their specific product requirements and price points.
